'University goes to Unipoint'

Unipoint and the Cheng Shiu Engineering and Electronic Engineering University have agreed an interesting concept of education for engineers in Unipoint Electric, Taiwan. It is believed to be one of the first such collaborations in Taiwan and offers exciting benefits for Unipoint employees.

Unipoint Electric is funding the university to create a special course specifically designed around the needs and requirements of our particular production and product profile. The university will create a challenging course of study, which culminates in two years with a full Masters Degree in Engineering.

The course will cover all aspects of engineering, including electronic, electrical and mechanical, as well as specific interest in new product development, research, and design. As we described above, the course will be specially designed around the specific needs of Unipoint, our current processes as well as re-defining the needs of tomorrow. We believe this will offer our engineers a unique insight and learning curve to meet the needs, pressures of the fast moving, innovative industry we are involved in. Indeed some 35% of the course is dedicated to the future needs and requirements of our industry, thus preparing Unipoint for the future!

The course will run over two years and is taking place at the Taipei factory, where professors will have the special advantage of taking classes within the working environment of the factory. The chance to take part in this course was offered to the engineers in all positions within the factory, there were only 15 spaces and all were filled immediately. These engineers will spend evenings and weekends studying, continuing their normal work during the production week. At the end they will receive a full Masters Degree.

As you know, the automotive industry has lots of innovation going on, some of it we can see from the vehicles or magazines, some of it is still at the design stage, which indicates that the people in AM need to prepare themselves well before they can catch the path of change from OE. This is one of the major reasons we have this class of master degree opened in our factory, which is of great importance to those people that have been dealing with us as they put their future career with us, and it is with the strength of Unipoint which will be the sign that we do not remain still, as we invest for the future.

Unipoint firmly believe this unique collaboration will have profound benefits for the future production, research and development programs of Unipoint, pushing us further ahead of our competitors. We already have massive investment in tools and testing, bespoke production machinery, now we add to that impressive profile. A learning curve for future production, testing and research of our industry.
